Advices on enjoying Champagne

Storing Champagne

Cuillier’s champagnes have been aged for at least two years in our cellars and are ready to be enjoyed as soon as they’re purchased.

The 3 rules to keep Champagne:

  • A cool and dry place. 11°C is the best temperature to age a wine.
  • Away from the light
  • Place the bottles on their side, horizontally. In this way, the Champagne stays in contact with the cork, avoiding his dryness and making him waterproof for a long time.

The good temperature

Avoid pouring a too cold Champagne. It should be served well chilled to a temperature of 8-10°C, where the full aroma comes through.

How to chill Champagne?

The ideal way is to submerge the bottle for 20 minutes in an ice bucket of cold water filled with ice cubes.

No ice bucket?

The freezer should be avoided, as the thermal shock would affect the champagnes balance and taste. Rather lay down the bottle on the bottom on your fridge for 3 hours.

The Glass

Why using a flute-glass?

  • Those glasses are specially made for the Champagne. The inside of the glass is covered with small curves to catch the bubbles. If you use a usual wine glass, the bubbles will disappear faster, as there is nothing to keep them in the glass.
  • It’s also not recommended to wash a Flute with soap. Use hot water and dry it with a soft tissue.
